Biotechnology
The expansion of biotechnology operations in recent years has moved the Houston region into an emerging hub for the industry and includes such key areas as bioagriculture, biomedicine/oncology, biofuels, genomics, medical devices and nanotechnology.

Texas Medical Center
The Texas Medical Center (TMC) is home to 49 of the most renowned medical research and academic institutions in the world. The TMC’s 21 educational institutions include three medical schools, six nursing schools, two schools of pharmacy, and schools of dentistry, public health, and offer degrees and post-doctoral plans in virtually all health-related careers. The Michael E. DeBakey High School for Health Professionals, part of Houston .I.S.D. is also within the Texas Medical Center.
